Map entry, exit, and tracked zones
Define the zones and movements the system should track, including controlled entry, monitored exit, shared doors, and routes without credential readers. Identify whether the intended behavior is advisory or restrictive and who can correct a record. Confirm the platform’s supported local and global behavior for the proposed topology.
Handle missed reads and incorrect occupancy records
Unrecorded exits, tailgating, missed reads, emergency use, and network outages can make the recorded state differ from actual presence. Document how staff handle exceptions and restore a usable state. Coordinate door and egress requirements with qualified personnel. Do not present access-based counts as a guaranteed emergency personnel accounting system.
Test movement, overrides, and recovery
Test ordinary entry and exit, repeated credential use, a missed exit, cross-building movement, controller communication loss, and recovery. Verify operator visibility, approved override authority, and audit records. Retain the zone diagram and exception procedure with the final configuration so later door changes are reviewed against the occupancy model.
