Concept illustration

A service-provider changeover should give your team clear control of its accounts and a plan to keep security support running. Begin with documented ownership and a complete responsibility handover.

Part of Enterprise Takeovers.

List accounts, records, and transfer responsibilities

Inventory customer accounts, administrator roles, subscriptions, licenses, monitoring arrangements, configuration backups, drawings, warranty information, and open service issues. Name the approved people who will complete each transfer. Use customer-approved account recovery and manufacturer support processes where ownership must be verified.

Resolve missing records and transition gaps

Plan for missing records, accounts your team cannot access, and equipment that no longer has support. Also check any contract terms that affect the handover. Credential recovery must follow authorized procedures; it should not rely on bypassing authentication. Identify temporary support responsibilities and escalation contacts until the receiving team has validated the environment.

Confirm ownership and support handover

Confirm the customer controls primary accounts and recovery channels, and that the receiving team has only the approved access. Test key system tasks and the process for getting support. Record accepted documents, unresolved gaps, and the date responsibility transfers. Review and remove obsolete provider access through the customer’s approved process.
