Enterprise change control makes a security-system modification reviewable before it affects multiple facilities. The process should connect the requested outcome to dependencies, approval, validation, and recovery.
Part of Enterprise Security Administration.
Describe the change and its dependencies
Record the affected systems and sites, business reason, proposed configuration, interface dependencies, responsible owner, and maintenance window. Classify the change by its operational impact. Include relevant customer IT and facility owners when the change touches shared services, access behavior, or occupied operations.
Set urgent-change and rollback procedures
Updates to firmware, certificates, naming, identity groups, or network rules can affect integrations that are not immediately visible. Identify rollback conditions and the last safe reversal point. Define an expedited approval path for urgent work, followed by documentation and review, rather than treating emergencies as undocumented exceptions.
Verify affected workflows before closure
Validate the specific workflows affected by the change, including negative cases and recovery where relevant. Record the approved version and the observed result. Update inventories, diagrams, backups, and operator instructions before closing the change. Use a representative pilot when the same modification will be repeated across a fleet.

Compliance, Codes & Project Standards
NERSA plans commercial and industrial security work with applicable code, documentation, inspection and authority-having-jurisdiction requirements in mind. Requirements vary by system, property and jurisdiction. These resources support project planning; they do not establish legal compliance, certification or AHJ approval.
