Concept illustration

Enterprise security administration keeps permissions, device records, configuration changes, and ownership current after deployment. Define an operating process that continues when employees, local managers, IT staff, or service providers change.

Part of Managed Enterprise Security.

Create an authority register

List system owners, approvers, administrators, service contacts, and recovery responsibilities. Keep account recovery information in the customer’s approved secure system. Avoid making an individual’s personal mailbox the only path to control of a business platform.

Maintain reliable operational records

Assign a custodian for the device inventory, configuration history, site names, and documentation. Record each device’s location, purpose, software version, license, support date, and responsible owner. Reconcile these records after installations, replacements, acquisitions, and service-provider changes. Keep passwords and recovery secrets in the approved secure system, separate from the inventory.

Review access and exceptions

Use defined review intervals and event-driven checks after transfers, departures, acquisitions, or organizational changes. Review administrator privileges separately from ordinary viewing or entry rights. Exceptions should be approved, limited, and reconsidered rather than left indefinitely.

Connect changes to evidence

Record the requested outcome, affected sites, approval, maintenance window, backup, validation, and rollback decision. Close the change only after the affected workflow has been checked and documentation updated. This makes support history useful when a later incident involves the same component.

Resolve records without an owner

When a device or account has no clear owner, assign someone to resolve the gap and set a review date. Confirm who controls it, who supports it, and who can approve future changes. Close the item only when that responsibility is documented and the authorized team can use the records.
