Define recording and recovery requirements
Map cameras, switches, links, recorders, storage, management services, and viewing clients. Define acceptable interruption and recovery for each required function with the customer. Confirm how the selected architecture handles recorder failure, link loss, storage faults, and central-service interruption.
Identify shared points of failure
Consider failures during export, overlapping failures, restored connectivity, edge-storage retrieval, and unavailable licenses. Identify shared dependencies that can defeat apparently redundant components, such as one power source or one uplink. Document which recovery steps are automatic and which require an authorized operator.
Test footage, alerts, and failback
Test the agreed scenarios and review actual recorded footage through the intended client. Verify timestamps, gaps, search availability, alerts, failback, and recovery traffic. Retain the configuration, results, and unresolved limitations. Revalidate affected scenarios when cameras, storage, software, or network paths change.
