Moving between server-based, cloud-managed, and hybrid security environments changes responsibilities as well as hosting. Document where data, decisions, administration, and recovery will reside before planning the cutover.
Part of Legacy Enterprise Security Migration.
Map what moves and what stays
Map the current and target locations of recording, event storage, identity, configuration, and operator tools. Confirm supported migration methods, export formats, subscriptions, integrations, and connectivity requirements. Identify which historical data can move and which must remain accessible in a separate archive.
Plan archive access and service interruptions
Plan coexistence, interrupted uploads, unavailable cloud services, subscription termination, and local operation during the transition. A management interface moving to the cloud does not necessarily mean recordings move with it. Assign responsibility for every retained server and archive so the old environment does not become an unmaintained dependency.
Validate the new platform before cutover
Pilot enrollment, permissions, event delivery, recording retrieval, exports, health alerts, and agreed outages. Confirm customer account ownership and usable access to retained data. Decommission old components only after the acceptance record shows their dependencies have been resolved.

Frequently Asked Questions
What changes when security systems move to cloud or hybrid management?
Responsibilities change as well as hosting. Define where data, decisions, administration, and recovery will reside, and which functions remain local. Use that operating model to plan the transition.
What should be verified before a cloud or hybrid cutover?
Validate the required platform workflows, archive access, and handling of service interruptions. Record what moves, what stays, and who supports each part. Acceptance should resolve those dependencies before relying on the new arrangement.

Compliance, Codes & Project Standards
NERSA plans commercial and industrial security work with applicable code, documentation, inspection and authority-having-jurisdiction requirements in mind. Requirements vary by system, property and jurisdiction. These resources support project planning; they do not establish legal compliance, certification or AHJ approval.
