A legacy enterprise migration needs a controlled route from the current operating environment to the target architecture. The plan should explain what remains in service, how users work during coexistence, and what evidence allows each legacy dependency to be retired.

Part of Enterprise Security System Modernization.

Inventory the system as it operates today

Record actual device models, versions, licenses, account ownership, controller databases, recording locations, and interfaces. Identify dependencies that may not appear in drawings, including shared services and administrator knowledge held by one person. Validate a sample of records against the equipment.

Define the coexistence model

Choose the authoritative system for each function during transition. Document whether operators need two interfaces, how incidents are found, where new users are enrolled, and how changes are reconciled. Keep a record of what has migrated and what remains, with an owner for exceptions.

Prove the reuse decision

Existing cameras, door hardware, cabling, and network components need condition and compatibility checks. Confirm the specific features required in the new environment rather than assuming a device’s basic connectivity is sufficient. Include replacement triggers when retained equipment cannot meet the intended operation.

Set cutover and rollback gates

Back up approved configurations and document the last safe reversal point. Define the tests that must pass before the old system is disconnected. Preserve needed records and verify customer access to exported data before licenses, storage, or support are terminated.
